Ashram compound at golden hour

    Our Story

    About ShantiLokha

An ashram homestay dedicated to nurturing the selfless heart.

ShantiLokha was born from a simple question: what if a place could nurture the selfless heart? Not a hotel that serves you, but a home where you discover what you have to give. Not a retreat center with a packed schedule, but a living space where transformation happens because you slow down enough to feel it.

Our compound sits within an ashram of the Sacha lineage, in the ancient city of Prayagraj, home of the Kumbh Mela and the Triveni Sangam. The ashram has held spiritual seekers for decades. ShantiLokha extends that tradition to guests from around the world.

We are a small team with a shared conviction: that hospitality and spiritual depth are not opposites. That a homestay can be both a home and a sacred space. That when you invite guests into conscious contribution rather than consumption, something extraordinary happens — for everyone.

    What Guides Us

    Our Principles

    Sattvik Living

Everything here follows the ancient principle of sattva — purity, harmony, balance. Our food is vegetarian. Our spaces are clean and simple. Our rhythm is slow and intentional.

    All Serving All

This is our motto and our practice. The team serves the guest. The guest serves their practice. The practice serves the world. No one is above or below. We are all in service.

    Simplicity as Depth

We deliberately do less so that what we do carries weight. One offering per day. Unhurried meals. Quiet evenings. The simplicity is not a limitation — it's the teaching.

    Honesty

We tell you exactly what ShantiLokha is, and what it isn't. We'd rather you choose another place and be happy than come here with wrong expectations.

    How We Hold the Space

    Three Invitations

This place is more than a building — it's a field we're all creating together.

    Calm & Containment

We move a little slower here. We meet people with our full attention, so their nervous system can relax the moment they arrive.

    Anticipated Care

We try to think one step ahead, so guests feel: 'Someone thought of me before I got here.'

    Conscious Contribution

Guests are not just consumers here. We invite them to add their presence, prayers, and reflections. Every person shapes the field.

    The People

    Our Team

ShantiLokha is run by a small, dedicated team spanning India, Bhutan, France, and South Africa. We bring together spiritual practice, operational expertise, design sensibility, and technology — all in service of creating a space where transformation is possible.
